Planning and Research

Image
We have decided that in about 5 days my group and I will be filming. On Friday is when Anayah will buy half of the supplies/props for the film and my other group members will gather their supplies sometime this week. The other half of the props will be brought by Keemori Hall. In the meantime, I wanted to research more ways to helps us film better and faster. Especially since we are using two tripods I wanted to learn how to use those the best way I can. I got most tips from watching youtube videos from college students who are taking film and production as their major. After learning different methods from those that have more experience I wrote them down to share with my group later. Aside from looking for different filming techniques and tips, I am nearing the end of the songs suggested for the film. However, I need the permission from my groupmates to finalize the song/music choice. As for reflection, I took it upon myself to go over past filming projects. Such as the music video a...

My group and I have given each other different things to do. I went searching for costumes I may need for filming. I've gotten black sweatpants, a black mask, and a black hoodie. These clothes fit the criteria our group agreed upon because we wanted our actors to look dark and mysterious when recording time comes around. Our goal is to look as dangerous and creepy as we can with our limited budget as well. So the costumes and props we buy mustn't be expensive at all. The clothes I went shopping for weren't expensive at all so I managed to save some money. I don't know if my other group members went shopping for costumes however I do plan on scheduling a zoom meeting with them on March 13th or March 14th. This zoom meeting will allow us to catch up on all the progress everyone has done. We will also discuss if we need to alter plans or edit some blogs if we need to. After I went shopping for costumes I went online to look for the props we need. Our group wants to use fak...

Our group has not starting our filming process as of yet. The f ilming will begin in the next two weeks. I would say the process of filming would take about three days to complete. In the meantime, the group has been editing our planning blogs and scripts. I had to fix my images that were not showing up for the teachers. Another issue is we have to revise and redraw our storyboard. The problem is it was too short and more pages needed to be filled out. So far we have 4 pages and we need at least 7 to 10 pages. On the otherhand, the group will rewrite the scripts as well to make it better. We want to improve the sound and dialogue script simply because it isn't conveying that sinister and mysterious feeling yet to the audience. This script needs to be less mediocre and more abnormal and uncommon. Besides the scripts and the storyboard, the rest of our planning blogs are just fine. We are trying to plan as close to what we want and not mess up. Another problem our group will have to ...

Our group has decided on a thriller genre for our film as stated in different blogs. We have not started to work on our project yet. As we have just recently decided on when to film and the construction of our film. We had talked about what to do from the beginning when we first got this assignment. Our plan was to film and edit during spring break because we would all be free. This has changed due to one of our groupmates. Keemori will no longer be here for spring break so that put a rift in our plans. We quickly compromised on this issue. We decided to film at the end of March before Spring Break. We know that we would need at least two days to film the full video so we decided on more than 2 days. Then we will also have a day for editing as we will meet in person for that. We also have backup dates for reshooting and reediting. These are after Spring Break when Keemori will be back. Filming for this project will need to take place in the afternoon to give off a dark mood. We al...

Planning Blog: Storyboard

We completed our storyboard together.  We had to come together to brainstorm the proper ideas for all our scenes. We had so many ideas just for this one pitch that we needed to vote in order to complete this story blog. We each decided on who should do with this blog. The ten pages were used to show all scenes and camera movements. We weren’t sure as to who was going to draw all the scenes but luckily Anayah volunteered. Anayah drew out all the pages because she draws very neatly. Her drawing is also very detailed. While she was drawing, the rest of us helped her when she asked questions about what to do.  The drawing is the hardest part as there are many scenes to be done. We would all like to help drawing the scenes, but we decided we wanted everything nice and neat and to look like one. Being that we must create multiple scenes in the story blog it was kind of hard on our end. We wanted to make sure everything we drew and wrote down also flows for when we’re ready to...

Planning Blog: Title Design

This is our groups' title design. One of our biggest concerns was finding out our title design. No film is complete without the perfect opening sequence, so we wanted to do something that fit the originality of our film perfectly. We decided to do a theme that would fit the genre which is a  thrille r. We decided to input blood in the bac kground.  We  wanted  our sequence to be  just like other thrillers.   We made  the words big  on each slide.  We wanted to do this so that the audience would be able to identify all the important people that contributed to the film. We decided to give our film the name " The Killing "; the title  will  vanis h after it comes on the screen .   In this  PowerPoint,  we explored our options and  came to a conclusion  on the design of our  titles. We  explored six different areas. First, we decided what fonts and how many we were using. The fonts a big part of...

Planning Blog: Location, health, schedule, and more

It’s going to take a lot to complete this final task. This will be our last time coming together as a group. We will be shooting the whole week of Spring Break in order to make sure we get everything done. We will have 5 days expanding from filming and editing. We will take 2 days to film, 3 days to edit, and 1 day to review our final project. The theme of our film is a thriller. We will be using Hampton Pines Park that has a trail and many trees along with it that give off a wood's vibe. We will be shooting at night while making sure there are proper props and lighting in order to get things done. Our final location will take place at Kadia’s house giving us the last scene we need before editing.  It’ll take us 2 days to finish shooting as the last couple of scenes will need to be done in the daytime. We will all be participating in the creation of this film. To actors, story writers, editors, and filming everyone will have a part. We will have specific costumes and props t...

Planning Blog: Scripts

Writing the scripts was easy for our group.  Our group already had ideas in mind for what we wanted in our film and it all came down to write these ideas in a script.  To create the script our group has used PowerPoint.  Using PowerPoint has made our  scripts  easier  to  read for the group and for the actors.  We successfully made t he  shooting script  go hand in hand  with the sound and dialogue script . The scripts are always very descriptive when it comes to sound, lighting, camera shots, and camera movements.  Not to mention, that there is enough dialogue to keep the movie scenes mysterious and  intimidating.  All that’s left is to film and edit using the scripts and storyboard as our guide.   One of the group members  Anayah  oversaw writing the two scripts, however, everyone pitched in to throw in their own ideas. For example,  Kadia came up with the last scene in the opening and...
