Genre Research: Get Out
One of the films we decided to do was Get Out. It is a mix between horror and thriller. It was created by Jordan Peele who is notoriously famous for his films in the genres of horror and thriller. It was very popular when it came out in 2017. This film has many different elements that you would find in these types of films. The elements of the movie that we would use include the element of surprise, the atmosphere, the proper music, plot twists, obsession, high stakes, and threat. We want to include these because they seem like the best thing to put in. They are also the basis of thriller movies. With these elements, a perfect film is created. We feel like without he input of these elements, a film would not be considered as a thriller. This movie will leave you in suspense and have you on edge just like these movies should. It will leave you wondering what is going to happen next. The elements I liked in this movie included the proper sounds that went along with scenes, the plot twists, the atmosphere, and the high stakes. These are all what gives off the edge in the movie. One scene is where the antagonist of the movie is hypnotizing the protagonist and the music starts to play in the background giving off an eerie feeling and the atmosphere slowly starts to change. This is a scene where the antagonist goes from being nice to being more and more sly. This is an element you would expect to see which is a plot twist. The elements I do not like include the element of surprise, the obsession, and the threats. One scene is where the male lead named Chris is saying to his girlfriend Rose that they should go, and she is fidgeting around trying to find the keys. Eventually, it leads up to Chris finding out that Rose knows what her family was doing and that they she had the keys all along. She was just stalling, which is an element of surprise that you did not expect. You would think she was on his side.
