For my commercial, I will be doing a Coca-Cola commercial. In order to be spot on with these commercials, I have to find patterns that show up in the commercials. I have watched many different Coca-Cola commercials and they all have a message. The messages are usually to spread love, happiness, and community strength. It gave me a general understanding of how to structure my commercial, what to say and show. In these commercials, the audience would see people such as family, friends, and strangers in different places doing different activities. At times, there are celebrities in these commercials.

  • The people wear regular clothes that are usually red to represent the color of the can or bottle.
  • The props they use are the Coca-Cola bottles or cans, etc.
  • The appearances are usually smiles or sad faces that eventually turn into smiles.
  • There is usually music in the background or people singing to songs; it creates a nice, warm feel to the audience.

Conventions in Coca-Cola commercials include the famous logo and a famous slogan like, "Taste the Feeling" or "Together Taste Better". The slogan gives a feeling like everyone is family and we are all together. The props of the commercial always appear no matter the camera angle. Everyone that sees the commercial will notice it is a Coca-Cola commercial because there is always a prop that gives it away. The logo will always be noticed no matter what. The commercials often use both ethos and pathos. The pathos situation is used to stir up a happy emotion. They use vibrant colors, messages, and different places within the commercial to give off a happy feel. The ethos situation is usually endorsements with celebrities like athletes and actors. This is a way to show that even the big names drink Coca-Cola. It is used as a tactic so it appeals to people so that they want to buy it.
